I see you Spring
I see you yellow daffodils
With confidence in your petals
Holding up to the hail.
Am I ready?
Am I ready to embrace spring,
To open up my petals
And reveal the soft and tender yellow?
What parts of me are ready to burst into blossom?
And what parts still want to hide away in the cave of winter,
Not ready for exposure - or to be seen in the light of day
Why am I hesitant?
The season herself calls for tentative boldness, for new shoots, some of which may not withstand the hail storms yet to come …
But some may.
Can I risk it?
Step out of Winter and into Spring?
I feel like I still have a toe in to the coziness that Winter so warmly provides,
With her call to gather around the fire, and her permission to slow down, to rest and to grieve.
I’m not sure I’m ready to give up all winter offers quite yet.
And yet, here She is.
Ready or not.
I see you Spring, with your bright colours and vibrant energy.
I see you Spring, with your promise of newness and a fresh start.
I see you beckoning, flitting around me like a chartreuse butterfly, calling me to the present. And trusting that I am ready for whatever lies in store.
Hello Spring …
We meet again.
