pause: an invitation

She invites me in.

“Is it safe?” I wonder.

But there’s something about her open arms

  that puts me at ease.

In one gesture she beckons me in

and holds at bay anything else

that would get in the way

    of this sacred space,

This space between

that takes on a different quality of time,

  more dense and more ethereal,

Like a carefully crafted cake

with layers of richness and pockets of lightness

that invite you to linger in its deliciousness

    a little longer …

Like a carefully crafted space

that opens up a portal to the soul

and your heart says, “I’m in.”

“What beauty and magic shall come from this place,”

she wonders, as she wanders in – cautiously curious.
